Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.

HOMESCHOOL GARDEN COOPERATIVE

Homeschool Garden Cooperative is a homeschooling group committed to an imaginative, artistic approach to teaching, and is inspired by the educational insights of Waldorf Education. The Co-op brings together a community of parent educators and supportive teachers with philosophies dedicated to the emotional, intellectual, and physical development of children.

Families have the opportunity to participate in classes, field trips, park days, and festivals. We meet weekly on Thursdays in Studio City from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm. We have time to play, socialize and eat lunch.

The following three classes are offered at this time:

Music :: taught by Violet Wilson
The music program includes singing, pentatonic flute playing, and lyre.

Spanish :: taught by Erica Orosco
Spanish is presented in a circle time, which includes physical movement, poetry, and singing while further exploration may take place through stories, games, and drawing.

Eurythmy Classes :: taught by Mami Saphir
"What is Eurythmy?"

Most simply stated, eurythmy is music and speech expressed in bodily movement. It is also called “visible speech” or “visible song” or “an art form that translates music and speech into movement.” Dr. Steiner introduced eurythmy into the Waldorf Curriculum, and while it often puzzles parents, children respond to its simple rhythms and exercises that help them, strengthen and harmonize their body and life forces.
